Sand Castle on The Ocean is a gay owned and operated fine dining establishment in Cherry Grove. It holds the distinction of being not only the sole oceanfront dining establishment in Cherry Grove, but one of only two oceanfront restaurants in all of Fire Island.
Executive Chef Noelle Grant serves up innovative and delicious culinary creations drawn from a wide variety of cuisines with an emphasis on seafood. Lunch is a more casual affair for those looking for a quick respite from the beach and any time of day is great to sit at the "sand bar" to enjoy one of Sand Castle's signature cocktails. Sunday morning breakfast is a can't miss, plus Friday and Saturday nights have piano bar.
In 2012, owners Jacquelyn Piazza, Anthony Chiocchi and Donna Bianco gave this long standing structure a complete cosmetic overhaul rendering the new space large, airy and beautifully decorated. With the new ambiance, the delicious food, and the unique views of the Atlantic Ocean, SandCastle on the Ocean is a premiere dining destination.
Executive Chef Noelle Grant first became interested in food at an early age. Growing up in a Mexican Irish household she spent countless hours in the kitchen of her grandmother making fresh masa dough for tortillas, tamales and roasting chiles for mole. As a child her summers were spent in her grand mothers hometown in Zacatecas Mexico which was rich in tradition and cultural heritage and was drawn to the open food markets and local cuisine. At age 23 she graduated from the NY Restaurant School and started her career at places such as Sign of the Dove & Arizona 206.
Now with over 20 years of experience from New York to Los Angeles she is passionate about serving sustainable foods and is committed to using local food sources. Chef Grant's tasty and nutritious cuisine reflects her belief that eating good local foods strengthens our health, sustains our economy and supports community. Fresh, organic ingredients are the mainstays of her menus.
